Christmas is Coming

With Christmas just around the corner, there’s plenty going on in and around Salisbury this season to help you get into the festive spirit. Be sure not to miss some of these key events during your stay at Grayling House.

Christmas Lights Switch On: 20th November 6pm – 8pm
Watch the city light up with this free event in the Market Place in Salisbury. With live music, fireworks, Father Christmas and a variety of entertainment, it’s sure to be a night to enjoy.

Ice Rink at Wilton Shopping Village: 21st November – 4th January
Get your skates on and enjoy Wilton Shopping Village’s ice rink. The rink is constructed using real ice, and undercover of a marque so you can skate no matter what the weather.

Salisbury Christmas Market: 27th November – 20th December
Located in the Guildhall Square in Salisbury’s city centre, this year’s Christmas market will have over 120 exhibitors including artists, craftspeople, designers and makers, selling many unique and wonderful products from Britain and Europe. Throw into the mix music, great food and entertainment and this is a must see.

Mother Goose Christmas Panto at Salisbury Playhouse: 3rd December – 10th January
It wouldn’t be Christmas without a panto! Salisbury Playhouse are showing Mother Goose starring Salisbury’s favourite dame, Kieran Buckeridge. Performances can be seen in the morning, afternoon and evenings.

Celebrating King Arthur at Old Sarum

Coming up at the end of August 2014 over the bank holiday weekend is a fun filled day for the family at Old Sarum, celebrating the battle victory of the legendary King Arthur.

This fantastic show is only a short drive from Grayling House Bed and Breakfast and is on from 11am – 5pm on both Sunday 24th and Bank Holiday Monday 25th August during which time you and the family can visit various displays and arena shows.

There will be plenty of costumed characters on site over the weekend to help you learn more about this historic period in history. King Arthur is known for his heroic leadership during the defence of Britain against the Saxon invaders in the 6th century. You couldn’t get a better venue for this kind of event than Old Sarum and we believe it is one you are not going to want to miss.

Tickets start at £1.50 for adult members and £0.90 for child members or for non members adults are priced at £5.50 and children aged 5-15 years are £3.30 …tickets can be purchased from the site on Castle Road in person or by contacting Old Sarum direct.

Family Fun with music in the parks

Music in the Parks

Sunday the 6th July saw some fantastic latin music being played in Queen Elizabeth Gardens courtesy of nine-piece band Atlantico as part of Salisbury Councils ‘Music in the Parks’. Quite a crowd gathered to enjoy the music which was part of the event continuing on selected Sundays throughout July and August.

All of these events are FREE and with FREE PARKING at Culver Street car park on Sundays thanks to the Salisbury BID there is now no excuse not to get down to Queen Elizabeth Gardens in Salisbury with friends and family and enjoy these great events.

Grayling House B&B is only a short drive away from the city centre so you can enjoy the party atmosphere during the day and then come back to us to relax in one of our fully furnished guestrooms when it’s all over …sounds like the perfect end to a weekend.

Events in Salisbury April-May 2014

Events in Salisbury

April is here, with the sun arriving along with it. Fantastic for getting out and exploring the countryside, or enjoying one of the many events going on in the area over the coming month or two.

On the 19th April, an evening Ghost Walk shall be taking place in Salisbury. This guided tour of the city will include haunting tales of ghosts, ghouls and much more …a frightful night not to be missed.

Coming up on 27th April is a free event for the whole family to enjoy here in Salisbury, celebrating St George’s Day. The annual event, run by Salisbury City Council will take place in the Market Place, with additional activities in the Maltings and Old George Mall. Events on the day run from 11am – 3pm.

The 23rd May marks the start of the Salisbury International Arts Festival, a series of events comprised of live music, dance and performing arts. The event runs until June 7th, taking place in various locations throughout Salisbury.
